About Us

Hadlow Bowls Club was formed in 1936 and originally played on rented ground in Court Lane, Hadlow. In 1962 the then owner sold the land for building development and as a result during the 1963 season the Club had to find a temporary home at Pembury Bowls Club. In 1963 a new green was laid in Hadlow on land which the Club has leased ever since.

The Club is affiliated to the Kent County Bowls Association and plays in the Weald and Sevenoaks leagues. Friendly matches are played on most Saturdays and Sundays and some Wednesdays throughout the summer. Combined league and friendly matches add up to some 80 fixtures during the season and as a result the green is in use most days of the week and evenings for league matches, friendlies and also Club competitions.

The playing season runs from late April until mid September and the annual subscription is currently £90 for full playing members and £5 for social members. There is also a £5 per member fee for our club to be affiliated to Bowls England and £5 per member to Kent County Bowls Association which provides a level of insurance cover and also enables us to play friendlies against other affiliated clubs.

Casual dress is allowed for roll ups however for friendly matches dress is white top and either white or grey trousers/skirts which is indicated in the fixture list. For league games dress is white top and grey trousers/skirts whilst for Club events and competitions on the green, dress is specified on the notice board.

Flat soled shoes are required on the green at all times.

A number of social evenings are set aside during the summer for Quiz and UNO nights. These are important fundraisers for the Club and are open to both members and their guests. An entry fee is usually charged which goes to club funds. There is also an annual dinner which takes place at the end of the playing season when the presentation of trophies takes place.

Prospective new members may come along on Tuesdays at 2:30pm and Thursdays at 4:00pm from early May to mid August. Other sessions can be arranged. The only requirement is that flat soled shoes are worn. Spare sets of bowls are available in the Clubhouse.
